I feel very confident with my knowledge and the ethical responsibilities one would assume as a Telemedicine Assistant. As an international medical degree holder, I am excited to deliver all forms of medical treatments approved under the Telemedicine Assistant position.
Also, my past experiences as a Research Document Medical Officer in Sri Lanka’s Kidney Transplant Ward have given me the tools and skillset that I need to work effectively as Telemedicine Assistant.
I liaised patient information between clients and supervising medical consultants and I have counseled patients in English related to their medical concerns. As per my duty I took patient vitals, documented and reported back to consulting physicians. As a result of my international experience, I am fluent in English and Tamil and have a working-level understanding of Russian and Sinhala.
My participation in Algonquin’s OSLT-Health course also ensured my transference of medical communication in the Canadian medical context. Additionally, I have gained excellent communication and presentation skills as a Red Cross support worker in Canada and Sri Lanka, as I travelled all over Sri Lanka educating people about the dengue virus. Furthermore, I managed a team and held peace education programs across Sri Lanka giving me the essential interpersonal skills to manage and work in teams.
