For almost 30 years, I have had the opportunity to dive into various roles in the Early Learning and Child Care field. From business owner (KinderTown), to Center Director, to Child Development Consultant and Coach to area manager roles, I have found my most fulfilling roles to be those that encourage, cheerlead, build capacity and support others in the field, whether families or ELCC educators.
I am currently running my own licensed day home in the Cochrane area, while I coach and consult various programs throughout the Calgary region as well. I am in my element as I facilitate workshops, build relationships and support capacity in educators on the front lines while encouraging co-educators with online professional learning opportunities. And I value still having my part time program to keep myself current and alive in the best practices that make our field so influential!
My recent roles as a Child Development Consultant (Davar Childcare Society) and Day Home Consultant with Discovery Tots have given me the opportunity to share and encourage educators in the ELCC field. My natural personality enjoys building relationships and encourages others from a strength basis. My education, experience and knowledge in the field have given me the tools and understanding in order to build on strengths and guide challenging areas towards best practices.
Prior to this role, my positions as Center Director and Director of Campus Services (area manager) gave me leadership and coaching opportunities to model and mentor other educators in the field. With a personal high bar of excellence and a passion for servant-leadership, I spent hours in classrooms building relationships with educators, modeling best practices with the children and families alongside the ultimate goal of building capacity within educators.
Additional leadership experience that has shown me my passion of mentorship would be various workshops my previous colleague and I created and facilitated for programs and individuals. These workshops were well received and have since been approved for Child Care Funding through the Alberta government- topic examples would be Positively Guiding Children’s Behavior, Terrific Transitions for Toddlers, Building Intentional Relationships with Children. We were also invited as guest presenters at Bow Valley College for their ELCC certification program numerous times.
These were some of my favorite moments!
