Hey there! With five years under my belt as a coding instructor, I'm all about diving deep into full-stack web development. It's not just a job; it's a passion. I've got a knack for creating a chill, psychologically safe space where everyone can learn and grow.
From whipping up sleek front-end interfaces with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to tackling the backend magic with Node.js, Express, and MongoDB, I've got you covered. APIs? No problem. Database optimization?
Bring it on. I'm all about blending theory with hands-on practice, making sure everyone feels at home while mastering the coding game.
My extensive 5+ years of experience with teaching coding especially in Front-end development including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React matches well with your requirements. In addition, my background with teaching in-person bootcamps and then quickly moving to fully remote bootcamps has given me the ability and skill to adapt to quick changes and challenges while still managing to keep the human touch and a psychological safe environment in the bootcamps I teach.
During my time at Re:Coded, I taught 6 bootcamps which is a total of 160 students, bringing them up from a level of little to no coding experience to job-ready within 5 months. We were able to maintain a 93% employee rate. Teaching coding has definitely taught me patience. I really enjoy guiding a student to solve a bug they are facing. When a student finally has the moment where the difficult topic clicks and makes sense to them, it is so worth it and makes my day.
While my teaching experience has primarily focused on front-end development, I've taken the initiative to teach myself backend development and am confident in my ability to convey its principles effectively.
Achieving the team's ambitious goals is always my top priority, and I am always looking for ways to improve the bootcamp and my teaching style. If students were struggling to understand a concept, I would try a different way to teach that concept and check for understanding. I also believe in having regular one-to-one meetings with students to better understand their challenges especially as online bootcamps are harder to recognize and prevent potential issues regardless if it's a personal problem or technical one and ensuring that I can support any way possible.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology and completed an Android Advanced bootcamp.
