Amanda Hansen

I am an enthusiastic and compassionate person, who can work with a diverse populatio of people in various environment . I'm adaptable and a fast learner. My passion are recreation, nature and mindfulness. I'm always striving to learn and grow as an employee, parent, athlete and as a member of my community.

I have experience in various streams of education, recreation leadership and outdoor guiding. I have work with people of all ages, in schools, daycare, treatment centres, community programs, residential care and in wilderness based settings. I have a Bachelor degree in Sustainable Community Development and Health and a Diploma in Adventure Tourism Business Operations. I'm a strong leader, fantastic team player, and have exceptional communication skills. I look forward to finding a career that hones my skillset, challenges me, allows me to live the lifestyle of my dreams, and gives me the opportunity to make the world a better place!

My most recent job was as a Youth Engagement Worker, for the North Vancouver School District. I helped students with social-emotional challenges, so they could continue to exceed (and even excel) in school. I used counseling techniques, recreational programming, workshops and more. This job was extremely rewarding and fulfilling, but I moved and had to leave.

Before this, I worked in Community Support, with an organization called PosAbilitie. I worked with young adults who had various developmental disabilities. I helped them discover new passions, participate in recreational activities, find volunteer work and participate in their communities in various ways.

Throughout this time frame, I have also guided hiking, canoeing, kayaking and other outdoor activities on the side. I bring a great balance of hard and soft skills to my guiding.

I have worked at various camps, daycare, youth centres and residential setting for both youth and adults.

I completed a BA in Sustainable Community Development and Health, at Prescott College. This degree program allowed me to study various subjects that I am passionate, including: psychology, human development, community planning, economics, ecology and more.

I also have a diploma in Adventure Tourism Business Operations, at The Colleg o th Rockie. This included various adventure skills training, recreation management and many business courses.
