Classical Guitarist and educator Amir Houshangi began playing guitar at eleven after being inspired by the English Guitarist Julian Bream and has held a simultaneous interest in classical guitar and lute music ever since. Amir has a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical guitar performance from The Art University of Tehran, a Master of Music in Solo Performance from The Royal Northern College of Music and an Advanced Certificate in Performance from the University of Toronto. He has studied classical guitar with Alireza Tafaghodi, Gordon Crosskey, Craig Ogden, and Dr.
McFadden. He has attended masterclasses with Dr. Lily Afshar, Julian Byzantine, Paul Galbraith, Mark Eden, Chris Stell, David Leisner and David Russell.
As a concert artist, He made his debut in 2005 in Iran and has performed in various venues in countries such as the United Kingdom, Iran and Canada.
Amir’s enthusiasm for education, pedagogy methods and Performance-practice subjects always led him to devote a significant of his time to teaching and music research projects.
In 2022, Amir completed his doctorate of music in performance at the University of Montreal under the tutelage of Dr. Andre Rodrigues.
