I am currently a second-year student at the University of British Columbia, always looking for new opportunities to tackle. I have a passion for Indigenous business as I am an Indigenous woman in commerce. I love working with people and in teams, as collaboration is crucial in everyday life. I am most interested in real estate, marketing and entrepreneurship however, I am still learning about what I like and always am keeping an open mind for anything.
Last summer, I worked as an Innovation Intern, at Upper Canada Forestry. I supported product catalogue development with the inaugural Product Information Management team. Completed tasks as assigned, including copy-editing product details, HTML coding product content and enriching product data for import, including SEO achieving the launch of the first customer-facing digital product catalogue in the company’s history.
Learned quality assurance and front-end testing. Applied advanced internal quality assurance practices with test case writing for live system testing, learnt critical strategies in product information management and testing for digital products. I have contributed articles for internal and customer-facing communications.
Successfully wrote and edited one customer-facing newsletter and three internal newsletters for the company's Canadian and American sides. I gained an understanding of multiple SaaS platforms, including Optimizely, PIM, UserSnap, Air table, SharePoint, Teams, and the extended MSOffice 365 suite.
Alongside this, I worked as a receptionist for 4 years at a hair salon. I Managed clients online, by telephone or in person to schedule appointments and maintain open communication with them. Cash management: cashing out clients, selling in-store merchandise and managing the salon’s opening and closing cash counts.
I attend The University of British Columbia pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce at the Sauder School of Business. I am in my third year and my intended specialization is marketing or real estate. The key courses I have taken are; Calculus, Business Statistics, Finance, Marketing, Financial & Managerial Accounting, Macro, Micro and Managerial Economics, and Logistics and Operational Management.
I also am a recipient of the Spitz Fellow Award for Indigenous women pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce; awarded due to engagement in the community and deep commitment to pursuits and to others.
