I recently graduated from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University and have a concentration in finance. I have a passion for investing and actively follow financial markets. Through my co-op job placements and academic studies, I have gained experience performing data analysis and presentation using software such as Stata, MS Excel, Powerpoint and Tableau.
In addition to these skills, I am proactive and goal oriented, able to manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. I have successfully worked alone and self-managed time while servicing hot tubs to a consistently high standard. As a mature student, I also have experience working with people from various cultures and have a global viewpoint from backpacking in East Asia.
I completed two co-op placements during my studies at Simon Fraser University (SFU), one with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the other with SFU's Faculty of Health Sciences.
My position at the CRA consisted of reviewing T1 & T2 tax filings and registering negligent individuals and employers for GST/HST accounts. In the position, I demonstrated attention to detail, the ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information and diligence in ensuring the public’s interests are realized and that everyone is held accountable for paying their fair share of tax. This job required one to have effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills as well as a strong understanding of the Excise Tax Act (ETA).
At SFU, I was a Business Analyst tasked with performing fit-gap analyses to gauge the viability and impacts of switching to SFU’s new enterprise information system. Additionally, I helped develop a Privacy Impact Assessment for the Faculty of Health Sciences’ Teaching, Research, and Collaboration Information System (TRACS). This position required being comfortable in an agile work environment, where development was progressive and reiterative with an ultimate end goal in mind.
