About

Master of Science candidate in Biological Sciences (expected thesis defense December 2026) with a B.Sc. double major in Biology and Chemistry. My master’s research combines comparative genomics, protein biochemistry, and R-based statistical analysis with hands-on training in molecular biology and analytical chemistry. I also bring staff leadership, quality-focused operations, scientific communication, and teaching experience.

I am seeking a challenging scientific role where I can apply and further develop my research and laboratory skills.

Experience

Graduate Researcher at University of Manitoba (2024-09 – Present)

  • Investigate evolutionary variation in hemoglobin function across vertebrate species using comparative genomics, globin gene annotation, and phylogenetic analysis.
  • Calculate predicted protein buffering properties from amino acid sequences and pKa values; analyze biological datasets using R, statistical models, and phylogenetic generalized linear mixed models (PGLMMs).
  • Interpret and communicate research findings through scientific figures, a conference poster, and thesis research.
  • Conducted comparative analyses of α- and β-globin genes across hundreds of vertebrate species, integrating gene annotation, amino acid sequence-based estimates of hemoglobin proton-buffering properties, and phylogenetic statistical modelling in R.

Laboratory Research Assistant at Acadia University (2023-01 – 2023-04)

  • Investigated microplastics in songbirds through specimen dissection, sample collection, and laboratory sample handling.

Floor Manager at Canad Inns Destination Dinner Stage (2024-12 – Present)

  • Supervise and train employees, coordinate schedules, delegate responsibilities, and manage competing priorities during time-sensitive operations.
  • Maintain operational standards and accountability, review closing procedures, resolve issues, and communicate decisions clearly across teams.

Clubhouse Supervisor at Merry Hill Golf Club (2021-05 – 2024-08)

  • Coordinated daily operations, trained employees, and resolved customer concerns.

Teaching Assistant, Invertebrate Biology at University of Manitoba (2024-09 – 2024-12)

  • Supported second-year Biological Sciences laboratory instruction and guided students through invertebrate dissections.

University Tutor, Biology & Chemistry at Trent University (2023-09 – 2024-04)

  • Tutored first-year university students in biology and chemistry

Teaching Assistant, Statistics at Acadia University (2021-09 – 2023-04)

  • Supported second-year statistics students with introductory analysis in RStudio

COVID-19 Testing Clinic at Acadia University (2022-01 – 2022-04)

  • Collected patient specimen samples for COVID-19 testing
  • Processed samples and assisted with delivery of test results
  • Assisted with patient check-in and daily clinic operations

High School Tutor at Valley Peer Tutoring (2019-09 – 2021-04)

  • Tutored high school students in chemistry, biology, and mathematics.
