Ayman Ghoneim

I am Ayman Ghoneim; Canadian citizen and professor of anesthesia and pain management at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) - Egypt since 2015. I began my career in NCI as a resident in 1995 for 3 years and then promoted to Assistant lecturer, lecturer, and assistant professor with total experience over 25 years.

I am also working as vice-chair of the anesthesia and pain management at Children Cancer Hospital - Egypt since 2007

I am interested in Pain management, Pediatric anesthesia, & Sonar guided venous access and peripheral nerve blocks.

A diploma in Health Care and Hospital Management had been awarded in 2012 from the American University in Cairo

Anaesthetic Experience: 

• Pediatric Anesthesia for different varieties of pediatric surgeries including surgical oncology, neurosurgery, orthopedic and thoracic surgery. 
• Anesthesia for major cancer surgery with different modalities for their anesthesia (General, Regional neuroaxial blockade) including one lung anesthesia for major thoracic surgery for adults. 
• Anesthesia for major operations including neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, obstetric surgery, ENT surgery and general surgery using either GA or regional neuroaxial blockade.
• Ultrasound guided vascular access (central line and mahoker insertion, arterial line insertion)
• Ultrasound guided peripheral nerve block 
• 500 retrobulbar and peribulbar infiltration anaesthesia in Rode el Farag Ophthalmology Centre 

Pain relief Experience: 

• Pharmacological pain management
• More than 100 patients weekly in the pain clinic whether new cases or follow up. 
• Interventional blocks for chronic cancer pain have been carried out in NCI including: coeliac, superior hypogastric, and stellate, lumbar sumpathectomy, ganglion impar blocks, epidural & intrathecal trials. 
• Ultrasound guided peripheral nerve block (Interscalene, supraclavicular, femoral)
