I am Bhavik Makhija, a computer science student with a strong foundation in programming languages such as Racket, JavaScript, and Java. I am seeking a challenging internship position that will allow me to apply my skills and continue to learn and grow as a developer.
I have a strong set of skills including programming skills in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Racket, and C. I have also received distinction in various math contests such as Canadian Senior Math Contest, Canadian Computing Contest, Euclid Math Contest, Fermat Math Contest, and Hypatia Math Contest. Additionally, I am a recipient of President's Scholarship of Distinction, American Express Scholarship and Purolator Scholarship.
I am fluent in English and have a working proficiency in Hindi and French. Other skills include HTML, CSS/Bootstrap, and P5js.
I have completed several projects that showcase my skills and attention to detail. My Connect 4 project, developed using Java Swing, demonstrates my understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and user experience design. My Pictionary project, created using Javascript, allows users to draw on their screens without the need to download external software, and includes features such as adjustable pen thickness, a colour picker, and a timer.
Lastly, my portfolio website, designed and developed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, showcases my strong skills in web development and design.
I have also gained experience as a Teaching Assistant at Kumon Institute Education, where I collaborated with other teaching assistants to efficiently organize and mark the work of 100+ students and provided one-on-one and small-group instruction to those who required extra support.
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Computer Science and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University respectively.
