With more than 20 years of general construction experience, including approximately 10 years in commercial construction, I offer extensive hands-on experience in building maintenance, repairs, renovations, and the safe operation of tools and equipment. A key strength I would bring to this position is strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability. Throughout my career, I have regularly assessed repair requirements, identified workable solutions, selected appropriate tools and materials, and completed repairs safely and efficiently.

My experience includes drywall, framing, painting, concrete and masonry repair, commercial doors and windows, minor plumbing, general carpentry, and some welding. As a commercial door technician, I also installed door systems and operators and troubleshot and repaired mechanical issues. My background aligns well with the varied maintenance responsibilities at the Ontario Police College.

I am comfortable working with hand and power tools, completing building repairs and alterations, and adapting to different maintenance tasks as priorities change. I also have experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, and Genie/boom lifts.

Techniques diploma provides additional technical knowledge that supports my mechanical and building-maintenance experience. Safety has been a consistent priority throughout my career. I hold certifications in WHMIS, First Aid, Working at Heights, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Forklift/Telehandler, Elevated Work Platform, and Propane.

I am also provincially certified in asbestos abatement. This training has reinforced the importance of recognizing hazards, following established procedures, and completing work responsibly in controlled environments. I am dependable, hands-on, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

I communicate clearly, ask for clarification when needed, and take pride in finding practical solutions to maintenance and repair problems. I hold a valid Class G driver's licence and understand the requirement to successfully complete the OPP background security investigation.

Throughout my career, I have worked on a wide variety of construction projects, from residential renovations and foundation repairs to commercial building maintenance and industrial work. My experience includes installing and repairing doors and hardware, concrete and masonry work, equipment operation, and general building repairs. I have also worked as a commercial door technician and forge press operator, developing practical skills in mechanical troubleshooting and equipment handling.

With my Electrical Techniques diploma and extensive on-the-job experience, I bring a versatile skill set, a willingness to learn, and a strong commitment to completing work safely and efficiently.
