A recent graduate of the Animal Health Technology Program in Fairview, Alberta at Northwestern Polytechnic. I have spent the past four years working in veterinary medicine and related fields as well as building my knowledge by obtaining my AHT diploma.
Ideally a position in a related field would allow me to refine my skills as a technologist and aid in providing exceptional patient care and client education.
Triaged, admitted, and treated patients under a veterinary doctor’s supervision
Assisted veterinarians in examining animals to determine the nature of illnesses or injuries
Conducted daily rounds to observe and document the condition of animals
Prepped animals for surgery, monitor and run anesthesia, performed dental procedures, and recovered animals after procedures
Restrained animals, trimmed nails, expressed anal sacs, and minimal grooming
Maintained and sterilized all surgical equipment and instruments
Performed routine laboratory tests or diagnostic tests, such as taking x-rays and fecal examinations
A full time platform designed for students interested in a career working with and caring for animals of all sizes. Students enrolled in Animal Health Technology (AHT) will receive technical training and knowledge required to become veterinary technologists working in association with practising veterinarians. The program features a comprehensive range of courses and training related to the care of animals. Additionally, a clinical practicum during the final semester.
