Brian McMillan is a freelance fine art, editorial, and commercial photographer based out of Toronto, Ontario. Brian has been involved in the photography and film industry for over a decade, either through working on his own creative endeavors or collaborating with others to help tell a story or showcase a product. He has a wide range of skills, which include 12+ years of photo & video editing, several years of experience in studio lighting, web & product design, as well as expertise working with various film and photography cameras.
Brian believes that collaboration and openness lead to great work. And so he brings a collaborative, open energy to any environment. From his own experience teaching, working, and traveling, Brian has found that the best way to tell a story is to be inspired and learn from others.
Currently working as a freelance photographer and filmmaker, Brian collaborates with a variety of different clients, including product, fashion, travel, portrait, and editorial. Whether in the studio or on location, whether capturing a story or shining light on a product or person, Brian can deliver and exceed his client's expectations.
Working with a large variety of eclectic clients, Brian was able to develop a unique way of storytelling through video creation and editing. The work ranged from music videos, live visuals for concerts, documentary-style interviews, commercial work, instructional videos, and many more.
Sheridan College 2010 - 2012
The course included an in-depth introduction into overall video production and editing. Each project allowed the students to take on the roles of grip, editor, producer, creative director, storyboarder, director of photography, and director. The goal with the program was to introduce each student to the various roles of the industry.
Humber College 2015 - 2017
The Humber Photography program focuses on several aspects of the photography industry, including fashion, commercial, portrait, editorial, and fine art. The program's main goal is to provide its students with the right tools to enter the industry. Creative photography courses teach in-depth history of photography, editing video and photo, commercial portrait and editorial lighting, as well as digital file organization.
