I am a sergeant at a maximum security detention centre housing 500 plus male and female offenders. I am currently planning to relocate to PEI where my fiancé resides and am hoping to apply my 15 years experience in a correctional facility there.
Coordinate and deliver care, custody and security within a maximum security facility for adult male and female offenders.
Direct, guide, and supervise staff within a multidisciplinary environment.
Responsible for overall operation of the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre while on shift.
Interpret and apply existing policies, conduct internal investigations and ensure compliance with institutional and ministry standards of practice.
Liaise with various branches within the justice community, as well as Ministry employees, volunteers and community partners.
Coordinate operating practices, security procedures and programming.
Complete accurate, time efficient and thorough documentation with regards to operational needs.
Conflict and dispute resolution including the ability to de-escalate conflicts between staff, and inmates.
Participate within the Case Management model of inmate management pertaining to protective custody, mental health and female offenders.
Provide mentorship and skill development for novice correctional officers.
Adhering to a level of Professionalism and Code of Conduct, on and off duty.
Responding to and diffusing high stress situations.
