I am a healthcare worker new to the Oshawa area. I am looking to provide support to anyone who requires it, be it on a one-time occasion or ongoing. I can provide live-out services. I have 10 years of experience in the healthcare field, specifically in nursing, with a special focus on geriatrics, specifically, dementia care.
I have a certification in Aging and Gerontology, as well as, multiple certifications through The Alzheimer's Society, including GPA, U-FIRST Advanced, and Dementia care, and have attended palliative care workshops. Furthermore, I am certified in Standard First-aid and CPR level BLS, and have always maintained a clear criminal and vulnerable sector check. Additionally, I have years of hands-on experience with people living with various kinds and severities of dementia, Parkinson's disease, mobility limitations, diabetes, COPD, post-stroke, seizures, swallowing impairments, plegia, and G-Tube, ostomy care, urinary catheter care, and bowel routine.
I can provide services such as; medication administration and cues, light meal prep and feeding, bathing/grooming, mobility assistance, support with ADLs, laundry, companionship, light exercise, vital signs monitoring, etc. I also have an extensive background in the veterinary field as a veterinary assistant in regular practice and emergency settings. This experience allows me the ability to provide care for pets of varying ages, sizes, behaviours, and health conditions, with confidence.
While I currently do not drive, I have always gotten around via transit and have always been reliable that way. Alternative methods of transportation include ride-sharing apps, such as Uber/Lyft, or getting a ride. Finally getting my license is a goal I hope to achieve this year.
