Currently, I am enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Psychology at King’s University College (Western University), where I have been additionally granted an opportunity to enter the King’s Scholar program, which is a unique and recognized designation of academic achievement. My academic program includes various psychology, social work and disability studies courses, which gives me theoretical knowledge, as well as practical skills, that will allow me to contribute effectively to your team.
My strong commitment to professional growth is demonstrated by my continuous pursuit of professional certifications, including Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), and Clinical De-escalation Techniques Training.
My professional experience allowed me to develop a well-rounded set of skills suitable to the needs of your organization. As a Writing Tutor at King's University Write Place, I have empowered students to improve their writing skills with a strong focus on individual needs and using anti-oppressive and decolonial pedagogy methods. In my role as a barista at Coffee Culture, located downtown London, I developed essential skills in engaging and supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, and learnt to utilize empathy and de-escalation techniques to create a welcoming environment for all patrons. As a volunteer at London Food Bank, I have learned how to perform client intake sessions and provide in-the-moment crisis support and connection to other social services.
In my personal life, I am the primary caregiver for my brother, who has a disability. This responsibility made me understand various challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. The relationship with my brother further inspired my passion for making a difference within the community of London.
I have enclosed my resume and reference for your review. I look forward to the possibility of discussing my candidacy further. Thank you for your time and consideration.
