Experience
As a poultry farm worker i plan, organize and perform farming operations to breed and raise chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks and other poultry to produce meat, eggs and breeding stock for sale or delivery to wholesale buyers, marketing organizations or at markets.
- Feeding and Watering: Preparing,measuring,and distributing daily feed rations,as well as monitoring and maintaining automatic watering and feeding systems to ensure the birds always have access to clean sustenance
- Sanitation and Biosecurity: Following strict sanitation protocols to prevent the spread of disease. This involves cleaning and disinfecting poultry houses, sweeping, removing manure, and changing into designated biosecurity suits before entering the barns
- Egg Collection and Processing: On layer farms, duties include routinely collecting, washing, candling, grading, sorting, and packaging eggs into cartons or flats for distribution
- Flock Health and Welfare: Daily monitoring of the flock to identify sick, injured, or distressed birds.i administer vaccines (often via water) eport health concerns to the supervisor, and cull birds when necessary
- Environmental and Climate Control:I operate and adjust automated systems to regulate the temperature, humidity, ventilation, and lighting within the barns to keep the flock comfortable and productive.
