Emma Kealy

I am currently completing my 4th year in an undergraduate university degree studying psychology with a concentration in forensic psychology. I am interested in working with people in any capacity, specifically in a social work type of atmosphere. This includes (but is not limited to) supporting individuals the criminal justice system.

2022 – Present Program Coordinator at the Bloomfield HUB at St. Francis Xavier University (program with Flourish@X)

• The Bloomfield HUB is a community-based health promotion program dedicated to developing well-being and connection among members of the StFX community. Our mission is to enhance the health and quality of life for our community members by taking a holistic approach to student health and wellness. 
• Skills used/acquired through this position include (but are not limited to) fostering a welcoming, friendly and inclusive environment for all student attending the HUB through, prioritizing the well-being and safety of all community members, acting with empathy and compassion towards all while respecting confidentiality and respect for personal privacy, working as part of a team, fostering connections and community building within the program. 
• Responsibilities include (bit are not limited to) co-facilitate activities and events, coordinate with community partners, participate in monthly meetings to review, assess and report on weekly events and plan upcoming activities, assist in accessing and utilizing community services both on and off campus, and collaborate with various stakeholders internally and externally

• Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) assisting in scheduling weekly shifts for Community Advisors of the building, sitting as a chair on the house council, planning for and facilitating minor conduct meetings as well as student wellness and mental health checks, being a support person for the residents of the building as well as the Community Advisors, planning and facilitating various educational and recreational programming within the residence building and in the larger community, providing on and off campus resources to residents for a wide variety if services. 
• Training received through this position includes Community Development training, Restorative Practices, Intentional Communication, Anti-Black Racism Training, Non-Violent De-Escalation training, Disclosure Training, Suicide Intervention, Bystander Intervention Conflict Resolution, Positive Space, Waves of Change 

• Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) supervising classrooms of between 15-30 students of a variety of ages (4 years old to 18 years old), providing instruction and support for schoolwork left by the classroom teacher, support students in emotional need, and give the classroom teacher a review of the day (including work completed, and issues had and other notes from the day). 

• Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) scheduling weekly shifts for Community Advisors within the building, attending, and facilitating small scale conduct meetings with residents within the building, being a support for both Community Advisors in the building as well as residents, planning and executing programming to help residents become involved in university life, and providing on and off campus resources to whomever needs them within the building. 

• Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) being a support to first year students at the school, planning and executing programming to help the first years become involved in their new school/home, providing helpful resources on and off campus when needed.

• Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) lawn/trail maintenance, facilities/sanitation maintenance, light/simple repair work, and some customer relations. 

• Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) completing customer transactions, completing customer returns, resolving customer complaints by using active listening skills, helping customers find their way around the store and some light shift scheduling.
