Hello,
My Name is Erica Ormonde and currently am upgrading my Bachelor of Sociology to an Honours Bachelor of Sociology with a minor in Human Resource Management with the intention of Certification. Although near the end of my academic career, I want a practical outlook using my experience of being collaborative, adaptable, communicative, and challenged. I want to improve my knowledge and use the abilities I was taught.
Most of my work experience is working a retail job showing various forms of communication and collaboration. I was a sales associate at the retail store Nine West, I took on more of a flexible role in which I was trained in different aspects such as cashier, sales associate, and online orders. This allowed me to adapt to the business environment, which is important not only in a business environment but in the profession of Human Resource management. In a short period, I was promoted to a key holder position, as we worked as teams to make sales. Sometimes other sales associates would get in conflict with one another, and I would help remedy this situation. I helped motivate and collaborate with the team to achieve goals. I was in communication with the store manager and other associate managers, which would put me in high-pressure situations to get our sales of the day higher. I did take on a lot of responsibility and worked independently as well.
Presently, while I am studying, I work in my family business which is called A&E Construction. I again use my flexibility to assist in administrative tasks and other errands. Some would be being the mediator between inspectors and our contractor, picking up materials, transporting employees to different job sites, talking to clients, year-end filling, and assisting in payroll.
Currently, I am upgrading my Bachelor of Sociology to an Honours Bachelor of Sociology with a minor in Human Resource Management with the intention of Certification. I finished all the introductory courses and am currently studying Recruitment & selection, HR Planning, Training & Development, and Industrial Relations. I am receiving a more in-depth view of topics pertaining to what was initially introduced. Such as analyzing the organization's business strategy and coming up with an appropriate managerial strategy. As well as writing reports on analyzing current trends in the current labour market of different organizations. I feel that I would benefit from taking my learning experience and applying it to a work experience level.
