Mechanical EIT at Lukay Research and Development Ltd. (2024-05 – 2025-11)

• Apprenticed in a shop setting under millwrights and electricians, using hand and power tools as well as stationary machinery to build, repair, and refurbish various projects such as smith valves, piping systems for fluids such as air, diesel, and hydraulics, and meter registers for fueling.
• Developed policies and procedures for the company's health and safety program, with the end goal of achieving SECOR certification.
• Utilized SolidWorks, including SolidWorks Simulation, weldments, sheet metal, and routing to design, analyze, and produce drawings of various models of equipment and large assemblies.
• Designed and prototyped a mobile platform made of aluminum for operators to stand on while refueling locomotives, utilizing clamping hooks which grabbed onto the rails to provide a flat, elevated surface.
• Designed a sand dispensing unit for installation in railyards, to convey and provide sand to locomotives using dense phase pneumatic conveying. The unit contained two separate pressurized vessels located in a HSS frame.
• Participated in the creation and review of P&IDs for various systems.
• Assisted senior engineers with project management, including obtaining quotes from vendors, ordering, and interacting with customers.
