As a lecturer I had the reasonability to educate and inspire the next generation of hair and makeup artists. In this role I was the course leader for both the Level 2 Media and Level 3 Theatrical Hair and Makeup courses for City and Guilds. I prepared the students for the industry by guiding them in their college journey, providing exceptional delivery of practical demonisations and theory elements of the course. I would get the learners to self-reflect and set targets which would encourage them to develop and achieve their goals. My role as a lecturer also included organising the students’ exams by liaising with departments from across the college, and the awarding body. I would coordinate monthly team meetings with the rest of my teaching team to discuss any students who we felt may need more support, discuss any upcome guest speakers, or events such as work experiences and to ensure standardisation across the board. To ensure I stayed up to date with the industry I regularly carried out CPD and networked with industry professionals, such as Goodwood Revival, Lee Stafford educator’s Additional roles I obtained whilst being a lecturer included writing the course information onto the College website, creating promotional material for in house competitions to encourage the learners to share and develop their skills. Liaise with potential new students during college open days, and leading taster sessions and course interviews. Organising work experience, trips, and external guest speakers.
