I have one foot here in Canada and the other in Japan. I originally moved from Japan to Montreal in 2008 and worked in various flower shops specializing in large events. My clientele was diverse, and this experience taught me that it is normal to be different. For example, traditionally, a standard bridal bouquet was white, but it is now acceptable to choose flowers of various colors.
Also, my move to Montreal put me in direct contact with the value of laws as an immigrant to Canada. This motivated me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in law in Tokyo, Japan. I was part of an administrative research group that analyzed how governments tackled Covid-19 with Emergency Regulations across the world. Throughout this research, I learned that there is no one perfect answer.
In 2021, I returned to Montreal and am currently working towards an Human Resources Management Certificate at McGill University. I like helping people, and I have learned that HR is the area that can improve or enhance people’s experience at work. I would like to put into practice the skills.
