My name is Ian Guinto, a graduated Electrical Engineering Technologist student from Niagara College. Currently, I am working as a tunneler/miner at a company called Earth Boring Co. Ltd. based in Burlington, Ontario that operates in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). I have several backgrounds in construction which varies from carpentry, electrical, design, and excavation. I also worked in food & beverage departments that allowed me to develop social skills and ability to communicate well with my customers and peers.
Currently, I am a tunneler/miner in a company called Earth Boring Co. Ltd. based in Burlington, Ontario which has multiple projects in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and nearby cities such as Hamilton, Barrie, Oshawa, and Collingwood. I have worked for almost 2 years with a Liebherr LB-28 Drill Rig as a frontend man which is responsible for assisting the drill rig operator with pipe changes, connections, maintenance, and spotter. I have also worked with MTBM's (Micro-Tunneling Boring Machine; size 900 and 1200). I have worked with excavation, building segments of a vertical shaft at a depth of 20 meters+, laying down decast pipes and connecting hydraulic lines, electrical conduits that power the jacking frame all to the MTBM itself, ranging from 100 meters - 400+ meters length of tunnels. I have been involved with the Portland Project in the Ports of Toronto, operated by Ellis Don which had 14 tunnels drilled by Earth Boring.
Prior to this career, I was a door installer/mechanic and LED sign installer/designer which all involved electrical conduit connections and electronic component maintenance.
I am a graduated Electrical Engineering Technologist from Niagara College, Welland, which is 4 year course where I obtained my advanced diploma.
I took construction, mathematics, and physics class all throughout my years in high school at Saint Paul Catholic High School, Niagara Falls.
