Software Developer | Certified Scrum Master

As a software developer I have always been interested in learning how stuff works and how to build even better stuff. I cut my teeth on software building my first mod for a video game at five years old. It's debatable whether adding a character named "Jason" with infinite health to my favourite game made it better but, fortunately my taste in game design has matured while my curiosity and willingness to go delving into interesting code has only grown stronger.
My interest in software and how it works is what lead me to earn my Bachelor in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo. I learned the fundamentals of how code works from the ground up and grew my experience in their co-op program before landing my first Web Dev job as an Application Developer at Wawanesa Insurance.
Web Dev and its plethora of tools were a change from what I learned in University. I wanted to understand them more deeply. This has lead me to pursue several projects outside of work, including simple financial React applications, video games, and even work on a Patreon-like donation system that integrates with a postgreSQL backend. Now, I tell my colleagues with confidence that "Jason" knows how to use "JSON".
On top of my interest in software, another passion has been a driving force in my academic and career development: Working with teams to deliver useful stuff that people actually want. This desire is why I acquired my Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, while acquiring my Computer Science degree as part of the University of Waterloo's Double Degree program. Fortunately, both my work and my external projects have given me an opportunity to pursue this passion.
I also wanted to continue my academic development past university, so I went on to become a Certified Scrum Master from the Scrum Alliance.
Since acquiring the certification I have made agile a part of my life, using it to organize everything from personal coding projects to workout routines. Now my fitness buddies tell me they've "delivered value" instead of saying they reached a new personal record. My friends and family might find my passion for software and Agile annoying when I over explain why a website has an error or insist on using scrum methodology to organize dinner outings, but your team will find it rewarding.
