I am a hard working, self-starter and leader in my career in project development and program coordinating. Personable, with a significant track record for customer service and stakeholder relationships. Diverse employment background including chef, baker, cake decorator, server/bartender, retail associate, business owner and operator, and currently in social services.
I enjoy a challenge, trying new things and thinking outside the box, and maintain being solution-focused when making critical decisions and planning. I am organized, punctual, compassionate and empathetic with a high level of patience and perseverance.
Outside of my career, I enjoy sports, outdoor recreation, cooking/baking and hanging out with my family and friends. Reading, researching, creating, and helping others are high on my priority list, and my self-care is paramount.
My career in hospitality started in 1995 as a server, worked hard in several establishments and by 2008 I was a restaurant manager. From there I became the owner and chef of my very own food truck, which served fresh, homemade and from-scratch meals. Due to a pending back surgery, I had to sell my food truck and head back to college for social work.
I received my diploma in community support in social work, and started at an entry-level position as a women's support worker in a local non-profit. 6 years into this career, I was promoted to program coordinator where I researched best practices world wide to develop what is now the Sexual Assault Support Services Program that serves the South Okanagan.
Certified in: Community Support in Social Work, CBT Practitioner, Grant Writing, Sustaining a Coordinated Response to Sexual Assault, ASIST, Trauma Informed Practice, CPR & First Aid, NVCI, Reducing Barriers, TransFocus LGBTQ2+, Mental Health First Aid, First Responder to Sexual Abuse, Critical Incident Group Debriefing, Foodsafe, and WHIMIS.
On my own time, I started an education in financial literacy and trading in the Forex market 3 years ago, and now am an entry level trader in Forex and Crypto, investor, and teach others how to do the same. I also still in touch with my chef side, I prepare and develop healthy and nutrition packed meal plans, diet changes, and health coaching. Last week I started a course for learning about herbs and natural medicine, as well as, growing and marketing microgreens.
