My name is Joel Brisibe, I am a 22 year old Product Design undergraduate at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. I was born in California, and moved to Canada in 2008, where I have completed the majority of my primary/secondary schooling. Since the spring of 2022, I have been able to apply my knowledge and skills in the product design industry, mainly for winter sports accessories, and technical performance/water rescue wear.
I have had an art passion since i was a child, which translated into a design passion during my high school years. Skill wise, I am able to sketch and conceptualize very well, it is a strong suit of mine when developing ideas which aid my iterations during later stages of designing a product. I hope to maintain a career in product design, as learning and creating in this industry is something I can imagine myself doing for a very long time.
I currently work as an intern at Mustang Survival, a company that specializes in designing and manufacturing high-performance protective apparel and equipment for professionals who work in and around water. During the summer of last year, I worked as a product design intern for Gogglesoc, a company that produces eco-friendly and reusable goggle covers. I worked to create new designs, conducting market research, and creating 3D models using CAD software.
My other previous work experiences include being contracted as an interior designer during the pandemic to redesign the lunchroom at City Wide Towing. I've also volunteered in various positions, including at a local soup kitchen and as a children's' camp counsellor.
I am currently enrolled in my third year of my Bachelor's in Product Design undergraduate degree at the Wilson School of Design for Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Richmond, BC. I hope to graduate next year.
I attended Centennial High School, where i graduated in 2018.
