My name is Joshua Mendis, I am a 26-year-old Canadian citizen from pursuing my master’s in medical science at Lund University. Until coming to Sweden in August of last year, I had lived my entire life in western Canada. I was born in Calgary, and I received my BSc in biology from the University of Victoria. During my master's thesis, I was able to work in a lab in the clinical sciences faculty that was focusing on nutritional epidemiology, which would later become my main area of research interest.
After my undergraduate degree, I worked in the private sector for about a year in Victoria, with a medical start-up company known as Telus Health MyCare. I helped to set up one of their first physical offices to see patients in Canada and worked with them throughout the first year of the pandemic. I left this position when I was admitted to one of the most applied to graduate programs in Sweden, at Lund University.
I received my BSc in biology from the University of Victoria in 2020. Currently, I am finishing my masters thesis in medical sciences, with a specialization in public health. I was extremely honoured to be given the opportunity to attend the program, and I will defend my thesis in 2023.
