I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from UBC looking to relocate or travel. As a nurse I am currently working as a hemodialysis nurse with Alberta Health Services. I have also worked in the capacity as an Occupational health nurse at Suncor, Educator, Float Nurse on Medical/Surgical units, Team Lead instructor for college students and IV infusion nurse. My work experience includes Public Health in STI services, infusion of biological agents for patients with autoimmune disorders, Physical Rehabilitation, Acute and Long-term care.
As a Registered Nurse with Alberta Health Services and Drivercheck, my role is patient risk-based assessment, physical assessment, initiate, assess and disconnect dialysis machine, sample collection, education, notification, and documentation. As a Nurse with Coverdale Infusion Clinic my role involved initiating and monitoring IV medications, monitoring Vital Signs, and documentation. As the lead Clinical Instructor at Sprott Shaw College, my responsibility included lecture, lab, clinical instruction, program revision, and exam prep for national examination. As well, I am a certified Drug and Alcohol technician.
I had an opportunity to travel to Zambia, Africa with UBC to do international nursing. In Africa, I had the opportunity to work in a local hospital and surrounding communities to provide medical services, health promotion and teaching, and advocate for improvements in policies and procedures of health care practices. My role as educator, facilitator, and student was to anticipate, identify, and recommend a solution for any health issues in the surrounding areas to the local health authorities. This international nursing experience has allowed me to utilize my risk assessments, communication, and teaching skills at a global level.
