Shelving Books

Hi, my name is Kira Becker, and I am about to finish high school, and throughout my time there, I had a many opportunities to cultivate skills through volunteering jobs. I know how to work cohesively with others as I had to collaborate with many different volunteers and people, and even though I am an introvert, I very much enjoy speaking to and assisting others and making meaningful connections. I am reliable as I am consistently on time and consistently hardworking as I have a willingness to learn and dedication to the people I help and work with. I am unafraid to step in and lead when the times comes as I value communication, which also involves having the ability to listen to others and be okay with criticism and always have a desire to continue learning. I have always adored the library as I really love to read and study at any Calgary Public Library institution, it's something I'm going to miss next year as I am going into nursing at the University of Alberta next fall. Additionally, I enjoy painting, sculpting using clay, writing short stories and taking long walks with my dog and friends, I admire that even though the library holds numerous books and reading material that it also incorporates the arts into its welcoming and comfortable environment.
I have never had a job before, however I have volunteered numerous places, one being my junior high library at Tom Baines Middle School for almost all three years I attended there, I would shelve books, write book reviews and help organize displays. I also have been an usher at Vertigo Theatre for two years, thus have experience answering people's questions and creating an organized and safe environment. Finally, I have painted and designed sets for school productions at both my previous middle school, Tom Baines and my high school, Sir Winston Churchill.
I am on the brink of graduating from high school and obtaining my diploma, and in the coming fall I am attending the University of Alberta for nursing.
