CAREER OBJECTIVE : Become an accredited counselor and psychotherapist in 2024. Will work diligently, my goal being to be known for people skills, willingness to take on added responsibilities to meet team goals
As an intern in counseling psychology and psychotherapy, I use a broad range of culturally-informed and culturally-sensitive practices to help people improve their well-being, prevent and alleviate distress and maladjustment, resolve crises, and increase their ability to function better in their lives. I focus specifically but not exclusively on normative life-span development, with a particular emphasis on prevention and education as well as amelioration, addressing individuals as well as the systems or contexts in which they function.
The counseling psychology program of the University of Ottawa is one of the most competitive counselling psychology programs in the country and is a recognized program of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. It provides us a foundations in theory, research and practice of counselling and psychotherapy. I learn to employ a variety of psychotherapy models and techniques to facilitate change in an ethical and professional manner while engaging in an empathic, genuine, and supportive therapeutic relationship.
