Vast experience in environmental consulting to include Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental Audit and Monitoring, Environmental Management System (ISO 14001-based EMS – 2015), and Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) of large-scale projects through strategic environmental/sustainability advice to proponents and technical teams during all stages of project life-cycle including planning, scoping, feasibility studies, EA/post-EA permitting/compliance and leading the development of report in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Over the years of my career, I have managed projects from inception to completion through coordination/collaboration, TOR, scoping/scheduling, budgeting/cost control, team formation, task allocation, logistics, report writing, quality assurance, overseeing EPCM contractor’s work, and contract administration. This includes assessing environmental and social risks and identifying mitigation measures to reduce project risks to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) level.
In the course of my work, I have designed and implemented mitigation/remediation measures in accordance with Mitigation Hierarchy suggested in International Finance Corporation (IFC) PS-6 guidelines to mitigate project impacts such as minimizing habitat degradation, abating air pollution, attenuation of ambient noise, avoiding waste generation, preserving natural resources, and protecting groundwater resources etc.
My work also includes coordinating fieldwork for Environmental and Social Baseline Study (ESBS) to include air quality, noise levels, biodiversity demographic/socioeconomic profiling, sensitivity mapping, economic activity and employment patterns, hydrology/hydrogeology, cultural heritage, history/archaeology, health status, literacy levels, and physical/social infrastructure.
Working in teams and independently, I have coordinated Air Dispersion Modelling (ADM), Ground Water Modelling and noise mapping studies to assess project impacts on environmental and social receptors. My work also includes conducting Environmental Audit and Monitoring (EAM) to include review of permit conditions, site reconnaissance to mark socio-environmental receptors, point-source emission monitoring for (SO2, NOx, CO, CH4), dust monitoring (TSP, SPM/PM2.5,10), Workplace/ambient noise monitoring, effluent sampling, lab testing, and report writing.
I have designed and implemented sustainability programs to include environmental stewardship, water conservation, waste management, pollution prevention (P2), energy efficiency (E2), and Carbon-Neutral (C-N)/Net Zero transition through incorporating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to foster Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
My work also includes Contaminated Site Management (CSM) through conducting ESA Phase I, II, & III studies entailing site reconnaissance, delineation drilling to determine vertical/lateral extent of contamination, monitoring well installation, soil/groundwater sampling, excavation and disposal of contaminated material, Verification Sampling (VS), site restoration, and report writing.
I have worked for ISO 14001-based Environmental Management System (EMS) 2015 to include Gap Analysis (GA), aspects register, environmental audit/inspections, compliance gaps/Non-Conformities (NCs), objectives/targets, corrective actions/preventive measures (CAPM), and Corrective Action Plan (CAP) to ensure Continual Improvement (CI) and meet legal/other requirements.
I have worked extensively for donor-funded projects to include the World Bank Group (WBG), Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Union (EU), German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), Royal Netherlands Embassy (RNE), and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
