I have a background in high performance sport, competing internationally in biathlon, an Olympic sport that combines cross country skiing and marksmanship. For nine seasons I was a member of the Canadian National Biathlon Team practicing diligence in my training and applying exceptional discipline to mastering my craft. I am now proud to direct my passion toward my actuarial studies and contributing to my community through club coaching and volunteering.
Assistant Biathlon Coach: Foothills Nordic Ski Club (Calgary, AB 2017-present)
My main responsibility as a ski coach is to facilitate a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment for young developing athletes to grow and improve through sport. I am professionally responsible to deliver well organized practice schedules to parents and families via TeamSnap platform and periodized training plans according to ability, development levels, and competition goals. I must clearly communicate and be physically capable of demonstrating complicated technical skill requirements in a simple-to-understand-and-implement manner. I must be creative in designing drills, exercises, and training sessions to achieve these technical goals. I love coaching and feel rewarded seeing the athletes I coach go on to do exceptional things in and out of sport. It's currently my most effective way of giving back to a healthy and happy Calgary!
