As a registered Continuing Care Assistant in Nova Scotia, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, respectful, and supportive care to individuals who need assistance in their daily lives. For about 15 years, my roles involved helping clients with personal care, promoting their comfort, and ensuring their safety while maintaining their dignity and independence. I strive to build trusting relationships with the people I care for by listening to their needs and treating them with patience and kindness. Being a Continuing Care Assistant is meaningful to me because it allows me to make a positive difference in someone’s life every day through empathy, understanding, and quality care.
I am a registered Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) with 15 years of experience working at Melville Lodge LTC. In this role, I provided compassionate, person-centered care to residents in a long-term care environment, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility support, and feeding while maintaining residents’ dignity and comfort. I worked closely with nurses and the healthcare team to monitor residents’ conditions, report changes, and ensure a safe and supportive environment. My experience has strengthened my skills in communication, teamwork, dementia care, and building trusting relationships with residents and their families.
I have completed education in Continuing Care Assistance (CCA) along with studies in psychology and sociology. This combination has provided me with both practical healthcare skills and a strong understanding of human behavior, mental health, and social relationships. My CCA training prepared me to assist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, and mobility support, while my background in psychology and sociology helps me better understand clients’ emotional, mental, and social needs, allowing me to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
