- Dry the samples and re-weigh them to obtain the dry weights of the samples, pans are also measured and that of the buckets too to obtain percentage solids of the individual samples.
- Portion of the samples are being taken and weighed to obtain 300g for screen size analysis.
- Samples that are being pulverized are brought to the central weighing room to be weighed with their job numbers and idents being indicated on the individual samples bagged into smaller envelopes being arranged in order of sequence in the boxes.
- 50g of individual samples are being placed in a weighing cup and are arranged in order in a tray.
- Sometimes 30g is being weighed depending on the nature of the sample.
- Samples are taken to the fluxing chamber to be treated and placed in their respective crucibles.
- Fluxed samples are taken off the bench using the loader and being placed into the fusion furnace for one hour (1 hr).
- Pour fused samples into the various moulds available using the setup made for the pouring to be done.
- Deslag samples in the individual moulds to separate the slag from the lead button.
- Lead buttons are arranged in its respective cupels and are being loaded into the muffle for one hour (1 hr) to obtain the prills required for digestion.
- Prills are being picked and placed into test tubes and HNO3 is being placed on them and are left in the water bath for about 15 – 30 minutes to part followed HCL also being left to be in the water bath for about 30 minutes.
- 10mls of distilled water is also added after the digestion of the acids had taken place.
- Rack containing the individual samples is being shaken to obtain a uniform mixture.
