I work as a screening officer at Vancouver International Airport, where I am responsible for ensuring the safety and security of passengers, staff, and aircraft. I have been working here for almost 3 years now. This role has helped me develop critical skills such as attention to detail, situational awareness, and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure environments.
It has also given me experience working within a structured and regulated setting, following protocols, and interacting with diverse members of the public—skills that are directly transferable to a career in youth probation or other law enforcement roles.
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement at the Justice Institute of British Columbia, where I also completed a Law Enforcement Studies Diploma. Through my studies, I have gained a strong foundation in criminal justice, criminology, legal studies, and ethical decision-making. My education has provided me with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for a career in law enforcement, including conflict resolution, communication, and understanding the complexities of the justice system.
