My name is Preet Momi and I have my master’s thesis in Recreation and Leisure studies. I am also a Recreation Therapist and have led evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as art therapy, yoga, meditation, horticulture and more for populations such as children, adults and older adults with disabilities as well as individuals in forensic mental health. My recent research is about community reintegration for women leaving prison. I am interested in a variety of feminist theories, federal corrections, community re-entry post dis-charge, countering de-humanizing institutional practices, restorative justice, holistic approaches to well-being, mindfulness, Indigenous women’s healing, stimulating positive social change for marginalized populations and creating healthy communities. Three fun facts about me are I have been practicing hot yoga for over 5 years now, my favourite fruit is pineapple and I have been to the Golden Temple in India.
I'm an experienced Recreation Therapist with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry + Nonprofit Disability Services & Support Organizations. I'm skilled in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based & strengths-based therapeutic interventions for a variety of populations. Art therapy and yoga are my specialties.
