My name is Rose Bonello. I am a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Studies graduate from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Master of Science in Child life and Paediatric Psychosocial Care candidate at McMaster University. I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer at a variety of Early Childhood Services over the last few years. I have shadowed Speech Pathologists, Certified Child Life Specialists, Educational Assistants, Teachers, and more. I continue to learn about what it means to work with children with a variety of diagnoses.
Additionally, I am an experienced coordinator with a history of working with children of all ages and stages. With knowledge of working in the medical, therapeutic, and care-based industries and certification in First Aid and CPR. With skills in cooperation, adaptability, creativity, communication, and critical thinking. My future aspirations are in the clinical field of working as a child life specialist with children, families and a team of staff to provide developmentally appropriate, family-oriented plans of action to assist in their holistic development, and quality care.
Child Life Student | The Hospital for Sick Children. January 2023 – Present
Developing and implementing skills in coordinating and providing psychosocial care in the emergency department under the supervision of various Child Life Specialist. I helped families with hospitalizations and upcoming procedures through social emotional support, and medical play through strategies of coping and more.

Learned about the coordination and implementation of planning programming under the supervision of various Child Life Specialist. I helped staff plan and cope with hospitalizations and upcoming procedures through social emotional support, medical play and more.
Early Childhood Placement Student | Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto September 2019 – April 2020
Learned about the coordination and implementation of planning programming under the supervision of the Assistant Manager of Programs and the Child Life Specialist. I helped staff create plans and set up programming for the families varying from toddler to adult activities. I shadowed the Child Life Specialist, while they conducted and implemented medical play with patients and family.
