My name is Samantha Wilson. I am a New Zealand trained Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario. I am currently employed as a Registered Nurse at The Ottawa General Hospital Emergency Department as well as a Sexual Assault nurse with the Sexual Assault and Intimate Partner Care Program(SAPACP) embedded in the Civic Emergency department.
My clinical experience has primarily been in oncology, emergency, critical care, pediatrics, sexual health, and palliative care. I have over 12 years' experience as a registered nurse in both the acute hospital setting and within a clinic environment. In my current role as a SAPACP nurse, I have experience in sexual health counselling as well as the skills required to work as an emergency room nurse in areas such as urgent care, cardiac monitoring, emergent care and resuscitation areas.
I am experienced in phlebotomy, vaccines, health assessment and medication administration.
I love working with patients of all ages and have excellent understanding and knowledge of medical diagnoses including complex illness, cancer, trauma, palliative care, geriatrics, and psychiatric disorders.
I have excellent skills in communication, written and oral, critical thinking, problem solving, cultural safety, and conflict resolution. I enjoy working within a multidisciplinary team and equally confident working independently. I have a passion for working with patients and their families in an individualized way that empowers and supports them in complex health and social situations.
I have valid BCLS and ACLS certificates and I am willing to attend any education courses required for this position including TB screening course.
