Winnipeg based artist Sarah Chartrand (b. 2000, Winnipeg, MB) is practiced in a variety of mediums and techniques. The mediums that are most explored by her are analogue photography, ceramics, painting, drawing, and fabric/craft work. Her practice explores themes of memory, human connection, social issues, and personal experiences.
She often works in a representational style, but incorporates abstract patterns, colors and textures. Sarah’s exploration of diverse mediums and styles offers her a unique position of combining techniques to create something new entirely. This can be seen in her sculptural painting ‘Abstract Water’ which meshes sculpture and painting, as well as representational and abstract designs.
Chartrand completed her BFA at the University of Manitoba in 2023, with a focus on craft and painting. She has displayed her work in places such as Winnipeg’s Polo Park Mall (Polo Park Art Show, 2018), the School of Art Student Gallery (University of Manitoba, 2023), and the Nuit Blanche Festival
Sarah Chartrand currently works and lives in Manitoba, Canada. Apart from exhibiting her work, she also accepts commissions and is working towards starting her own business.
Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree completed from the University of Manitoba in 2023.
