Under delegated authority by the Medical Health Officer:
- Review and process applications and amendments to child care and residential facility licences, review and approve plans of new facilities, participate in the assessment of facility staff, complete inspections and monitor compliance in facilities, assess risk and safety, investigate complaints and serious incident reports, monitor communicable disease outbreaks, understand and apply various legislation, prepare accurate and concise reports, participate in court procedures.
CHILD PROTECTION SOCIAL WORKER (C6 Delegation)

- Receive, assess and respond to child abuse and neglect reports, interview children and parents, evaluate vulnerability factors, collaboratively create a plan of action with families, prepare court documents, provide evidence in court, facilitate alternative processes for dispute resolution, perform file reviews, act as a legal guardian of children, investigate child safety reports in foster homes and group homes.

- Support and advocate for high-risk youth, form trusting and non-judgmental connections with youth, complete case management reports, provide conflict resolution, facilitate crisis management, coordinate resources, implement an Indigenous- focused practice.

- Coordinate and attend patient care conferences at the University Hospital of Northern BC, support/foster the Indigenous cultural viewpoint of holistic healing, navigate and advocate health care barriers, assist in communication between patients and health care providers, provide social and emotional support to patients during care, maintain positive relationships, ensure appropriate resources are obtained for successful hospital stays and discharge.
