I have had a deep love for music since I can remember. I had access to instruments since I was born & at the age of 2 I started playing the drums and learned the basics of piano. I kept drums as my favourite and specialty instrument and practiced vigorously over the years.
I also taught myself to play guitar and bass as a young teenager, both of which I am now proficient & play on a more regular basis. I play all instruments by ear and still hold on to my intermediate knowledge of piano & use it as my mental-musical calculator. I also have experience in sales and dealing with different customers as the previous manager of a high-end musical instrument & equipment retailer.
I've played for many different bands in different settings from a very young age, from churches (The Prayer Palace in Toronto & Faith Centre in Trinidad) to heavy metal shows with experience in other genres in between. I'm always looking for an opportunity to put my strong points to use and earn an income.
Musician / Administrative at Faith Centre (2012-06 – 2024-10)
Faith Centre is the largest church in Trinidad and Tobago in which I have been involved as a musician since I was a young child. The church is run by my family which made musical instruments and equipment easily accessible. I've had different responsibilities in the area of music / entertainment which included leading the weekly Sunday morning band, and youth group band.
Working with foreign guest artists, entertainers, and production crews was a regular experience for me, making me highly adaptable and well versed in collaborating with people from different backgrounds. I also have years of experience working with and teaching music to Sunday School kids, offering private music lessons teaching drums, guitar, bass and piano from children at a beginner level go upward to adults with prior playing experience. In addition to these responsibilities, I also worked with the administrative staff in office doing data entry, following up on new members via phone call and help coordinate weekly meetings with various groups involved in the church.
Musician & Sales Manager at Live 'n Loud (2010-06 – 2012-05)
Live 'n Loud was the most successful retailer of imported, high-end musical instruments, equipment and accessories in its time in Trinidad and Tobago. We had high quality items in stock and also took custom made orders directly from brands such as Fender, Ddrum, Ibanez, Korg, Carvin, PRS, Sonor, Zildjian, Sabian etc. The owner was a tech-savvy, guitar virtuoso that frequented NAMM shows and had a vast knowledge of the industry, keeping himself and his products up to date.
Live 'n Loud also arranged a music clinic, giving me the the opportunity to host and work with celebrities such as guitarist Michaelangelo Batio (Nitro) and drummer, Carmine Appice (Black Sabbath & Ozzy Osbourne).
