Shania Poitras

Hi there!

I am a current Secondary Education student at the University of Alberta, specializing in the English and French languages, and in my third year. I intend to do my best job at anything I try, and consider myself to be a very passionate person.

My experience lies within three domains in particular: barista/specialty coffees, customer service, and education. While I have specialized in these fields in the past, I am always willing to try new things and am confident that I can quickly learn new skills.

Barista experience: I've worked at two separate cafes, totalling about 4 years as a barista. I have learned all there is to know about drawing espresso, steaming milk, creating latte art, and more.

Customer service experience: I have worked in many customer service settings, such as when I hosted at The Rec Room or when I was a cashier at Shoppers Drug Mart. I enjoy working around people and creating a rapport with my customers, in order to ensure they leave the establishment feeling fulfilled and as though they would return.

Educational experience: I have tutored for different companies as a volunteer, and am currently employed at a High School, tutoring English Language Arts to grades 9 and 10.

This experience has included: prepping grammar lessons, supervising and helping with homework, devising a plan to help students prep for their provincial exams, and more. All in all, I have worked with grades 4-12, online and in-person, in humanities subjects such as: English Language Arts, French as a Second Language, English as a Second Language, Social Studies, and have also done some Post-Secondary Prep tutoring.

I am a Bachelor of Secondary Education student at the University of Alberta. I am in my third year. My major is English Language Arts and my minor is French as a Second Language.
