I am Ching Tsz Kuen (Jasmine), a recent graduate from the Therapeutic Recreation Graduate Certificate Program. with my academic background and hands-on experience, I am eager to bring my skills and passion for supporting adutls with developmental disabilities to your team, starting as early as October 2024.
My Bachelor's degree in Behavioural Science from the University of Queensland has provided me with a solid foundation in multidisciplinary care, emphasizing person-centered approaches and emotional support. Specialized coursework in neuroscience has further deepened my understanding of cognitive and developmental disabilities, preparing me to effectively engage with diverse client populations.
During my recent placement in an inclusive recreation department, I conducted needs assessments, set individualized goals, and designed, facilitated and evaluated therapeutic activities. I developed skills in adapting activities to meeting various client needs, managing behavioural issues and safety concerns, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This experience ahs reinforced my commitment to creating inclusive, supportive environments that promote skill development, personal growth, and autonomy.
Additionally, through my volunteer work at a special education learning center and a long-term care facility, I implemented therapeutic programs that enhanced client's overall well-being and supported community integration. My study abroad experience in Australia provide valuable insights into global care practices, reflecting Canada's values of inclusion and diversity.
