Vanessa Cheung

My name is Vanessa and I’m a front-end web developer with a background in user experience design. I believe my skills and experience in both the design and programming field would be incredibly valuable in bridging the collaboration gap between design and development teams, which I noticed is a common challenge in many companies.

As I am currently completing the Software Engineering program at Springboard, I would love to apply my learnings and skills to a real-world company. Based on the job posting details, I believe that the experience and responsibilities in this internship role will be a great complement to my studies and help enhance my understanding of the languages and concepts. I have completed the front-end portion of the program, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React and I am quickly working through the back-end portion now. I also have a background in UX /UI design from my graduate studies at the University of Waterloo as well as from a UX bootcamp at DesignLab. I have extensive experience working both individually and as a team. My past co-op and working experiences include working as a junior manager at a startup company, marketing assistant that managed the company’s entire advertising budget, tax and accounting associate, graduate teaching assistant at the University of Waterloo, and mortgage operations officer at RBC.

Although I may not have experience specific to web development, I believe my past work experiences demonstrate my natural affinity for adapting and learning quickly, and has taught me many transferable skills that will be valuable to this role. I love being challenged and I am eager to challenge myself in this role as a Web Development Intern. Given my strong educational background and diverse work experiences, I believe I am a strong candidate for this role and I would love to discuss with you in detail regarding the qualifications and experiences that I can bring to CEM Resorts.

I graduated with a Master of Digital Experience Innovation (UX Design) as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Business from the University of Waterloo. I have also taken a bootcamp for UX design, and I am currently finishing up a Software Engineering (front and back end) program with Springboard.
