Vanessa McNally

I am a full time French Teacher looking for part time work. Depending on the situation, I may change professions. I am very creative, resourceful, and motivated. I have worked a variety of different jobs in my life from working with children as young as 6 to elderly as old as 101. I have managed many diverse classrooms with different needs and wants. I bartended for 5 years at several different locations, including private parties. I work well with others. I am “coachable” and am eager to learn. My goal every day is to leave a lasting impression on at least on person by going out of my way to help them, be kind to them, make them laugh, or share knowledge. I thrive on helping others and making them feel appreciated, valued and respected. I am a mom of 3 wonderful children and have successfully run my own household independently for 8 years.

My last 20 years, I have taught Core French, English Language Arts, Math and a combined 4/5 class of French Immersion. The majority of that time was with the combined class, teaching all subjects to both grade levels except music and Phys. Ed. Organization was a priority as well as creativity. Teaching 2 grade levels at the same time required me to schedule everything precisely. All curriculum outcomes had to be covered. When I was explicitly teaching one group, the other group had to be in task. Good classroom management was absolutely necessary. Building a rapport with the students helped with the classroom management.

I did 12 years of French Immersion from grade 1-12. I then continued my studies at Université Sainte-Anne (only French university in Nova Scotia). I completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in French and a Bachelor of Education specializing in students learning French as a second language at the elementary level.
