Project - Place-Based Violence Interventions: Animating Third Spaces 01/2025-04/2025

• Participated in project initiation, including defining the Terms of Reference (ToR) and developing the work plan.
• Conducted a jurisdictional scan, analyzing North American case studies on third spaces and their impact on crime and safety.
• Reviewed municipal policies, area redevelopment plan, and urban design analysis to assess their implications for third-space interventions.
• Meeting with the client, the Community Safety Team of the City of Edmonton, and stakeholders including Edmonton Police Services and Business Improvement Association. Writing meeting minutes.
• Contributed to the interim and final reports by reporting project progress, summarizing completed tasks, and incorporating client feedback.
• Assisted in the development of implementation schemes for vacant and underutilized spaces.
• Engaged in feasibility studies to evaluate the practicality of proposed interventions.
• Co-prepared the final presentation and poster based on the project findings for the client.

• Designed the question of Google Forms and collected the primary data about public transportation safety perception in Edmonton.
• Explored the impact of safety perception on women about public transit and wrote a part of the literature review.
• Searched for secondary data and transit safety strategies to compare with our conclusion deduced by primary data to determine how different transit safety measures influence safety perceptions.
• The final research paper was published on Topophilia (ISSN 2561-5319).
