Zaid Islam

I am a fourth-year Computer Science student at the University of Alberta with hands-on experience in full-stack development, backend engineering, and API integrations. I have worked on projects ranging from building a Tornado Cash detection system during my internship with Lykos Insurance to creating full-stack applications like a Spotify clone with Google OAuth, real-time chat, and media playback. My technical skills include Python, C, C++, JavaScript, Node.js, React, MongoDB, Firebase, and RESTful APIs.

I am passionate about problem-solving, learning new technologies quickly, and building scalable, secure applications that create real-world impact.

I have hands-on experience in full-stack and backend development through an internship at Lykos Insurance and several academic projects. At Lykos, I built blockchain-related features such as a Tornado Cash risk detector, NFT promotion logic, and API integrations with Etherscan, Moralis, and OpenSea. I also developed and deployed a full-stack Spotify clone with Google OAuth, real-time chat, and dynamic media playback, as well as an Android lottery system with Firebase and JUnit testing.

These experiences have strengthened my skills in problem-solving, debugging, and working in collaborative environments.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with an Economics minor at the University of Alberta, where I have maintained a GPA of 3.2. My coursework has included Data Structures & Algorithms, Networking, Operating Systems, Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. I have applied this knowledge in both academic projects and internships, giving me a strong foundation in computer science theory and practical application.
