Zi Li

Transfemme, queer, Asian, and Gen Z undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, completing a fifth year with a background in Sexual Diversity Studies, Sociology, and Women and Gender Studies. My interdisciplinary studies have developed my interest in understanding how identities, cultures, ethics, and socioeconomic backgrounds shape audience behaviors, societal patterns, and economic outcomes across different demographics. I am particularly interested in decoding and quantifying qualitative data, conducting fieldwork, and translating insights about people and communities into clear, actionable information for clients.

As I transition from university into the workforce, I am looking to pursue a career at the intersection of media, advertising, business, and audience research, where I can combine analytical thinking with creativity and a diverse perspective. My experience as a trans, queer, and Gen Z student has shaped the way I understand culture, media, and the ways different communities interact with brands. I am eager to gain hands-on experience in the field while, more importantly, applying my research skills, curiosity, and perspective in a meaningful and valuable way to the team.

With a lighter academic schedule and no classes during the fall semester, followed by a light course load from January to April, I am available to begin immediately and can offer strong flexibility, close to full working hours, and commitment throughout the internship.

Teaching Assistant at City of Toronto Programs (2023-01 – Present)

• Supported teachers and program staff in delivering City of Toronto programs, including a drag masterclass, working collaboratively with diverse teams to coordinate programming and participant activities.
• Worked directly with youth, including queer and at-risk youth, helping create engaging opportunities for self-expression and wellness through fashion, dance, makeup, and performance.
• Assisted with program organization, communication, and day-to-day execution while adapting to the needs of participants and staff.
