I am a book designer and illustrator, graduated from the University of Waterloo's Honours Fine Arts program in 2022. Since then I designed a cover for a private client's self-published book. I next had a summer internship with Life to Paper Publishing working in a variety of positions writing, marketing books, proofreading, copy editing, and beta-reading, and mostly, designing promotional materials.
I have worked for several months now illustrating and writing seven pieces for Nelson Educational's online learning platform. In February 2023, I created a series of illustrations of animals for Perimeter Institute of Theoretical Physics. In the past I have worked several times to create promotional materials for various companies, including Life to Paper Publishing, Spearhead Brewing Company, and Skeleton Park Brewery.
In my own time I focus on painting portraits, usually a combination of pencil sketches and digital painting, though I experiment with technique and style constantly. I also enjoy making mock covers for books I have enjoyed and have built my portfolio with those. I have a very deep understanding of typography, composition, colour, and visual hierarchy, and enjoy making covers that effectively capture the tone and content of a book while being beautiful and intriguing.
Most recently I have worked as an illustrator and author for publishers and in the past have often worked as a graphic designer.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Honours Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo and have taken nine courses on LinkedIn Learning relating to typography, graphic design, and book design.
