# SENIOR BACKEND DEVELOPER

## About the Role

BLENT is a data platform for the hospitality industry that aggregates data in real time from a wide range of sources and provides managers with reports, alerts, forecasts, and insights designed to improve performance and profitability.

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will quickly learn and understand BLENT's application and architecture, then take ownership of critical parts of the platform. Your primary focus will be backend development, including APIs, services, and data pipelines that ingest, consolidate, and serve millions of data points from clients' systems every day.

You will report directly to the CTO and work as part of a multicultural team serving hospitality customers across different regions worldwide.

## Key Responsibilities

* Learn and understand BLENT's application architecture and technical ecosystem.

* Design and implement new backend features.

* Further develop and improve existing systems and platform capabilities.

* Develop and maintain APIs and backend services.

* Build and improve data pipelines that ingest, consolidate, and serve large volumes of client data.

* Work with systems processing millions of data points daily.

* Take ownership of critical parts of the platform.

* Collaborate with the development team in an Agile environment.

* Apply modern technologies and development standards to backend solutions.

* Contribute to solving complex technical and software engineering problems.

## Required Qualifications

* At least 6 years of relevant software development experience.

* Very good skills in PHP and the Laravel framework.

* Experience working with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, including large amounts of data and complex queries.

* Experience with queues and asynchronous task processing.

* Solid understanding of complex web applications and their architecture.

* Knowledge of modern technologies and development standards.

* Hands-on experience working with AWS.

* Experience working with Claude Code.

* Good written and spoken English.

* Ability to work effectively in an Agile team environment.

* Strong problem-solving skills.

* Organized and rigorous approach to development.

* Passion for technology.

## Preferred Qualifications

* Experience as a lead developer within a development team.

* Good skills with frontend technologies.

* Experience with another programming language such as Python or JavaScript.

* Experience in the hospitality industry or hospitality software.

* Experience with hospitality systems such as Opera, Protel, Mews, Apaleo, Lightspeed, or SIHOT.

* Experience with POS and RMS tools.

* Understanding of hospitality and F&B KPIs such as RevPAR, ADR, and Occupancy.

* Understanding of accounting and business management concepts such as P&L.

* Knowledge of how hotel and hospitality data flows between systems.

## Work Arrangement & Schedule

* Location: Nyon, Switzerland

* Work Arrangement: Primarily on-site

* Office Attendance: Five days per week on-site

* Remote Work: Possible for one or two days per week

* Important: This is not a fully remote role.
